Connecticut native Peter Speziale is a harp technician, teacher, and performer based in Pine Mountain Club, a small alpine town nestled in San Emigdio Mountains of Southern Kern County.
An accomplished orchestral and chamber player, he performs throughout Southern California as a freelance musician. In addition to performing, Peter has coordinated harps to be used for television, movies, commercials, recording sessions, and editorials. He has served as on-set consultant for Disney/ABC Studios, Condé Nast, and others.
Active in the harp community, Peter has served as Secretary for the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Harp Society and has adjudicated the Educational Evaluations for the Orange County Chapter of the American Harp Society. In 2012, he was chosen to give the world premier of Hypnotic Dances for Alto Flute and Harp by Lucas Floyd, a work commissioned by the American Harp Society. He also served as a Youth Ambassador to the 2008 World Harp Congress.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Arizona where he was a student of the late renowned pop, jazz, and recording harpist Carrol McLaughlin. He also holds a Master of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he was a student of Sarah Bullen, principal harpist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. From 2014 to 2021, Peter managed Salvi Harps, Inc. in Los Angeles, the Southern California showroom for Lyon & Healy and Salvi Harps. Prior to moving to California, he managed the Virginia Harp Center’s Haddonfield, NJ location for four years. Since 2022 Peter has been a member of the Lyon & Healy/Salvi Technicians Guild.
When not involved with all things harp, Peter enjoys bird-watching, hiking, gardening, and spending time with his partner Jerome and Harriet the dog.
